About This Writing Blog

Welcome to http://www.aboutawriter.com. This is my blog about writing.  My name is Amy Stewart.  I am a professional business writer, social media analyst, and aspiring author.

The purpose of this writing blog is multifaceted. As a professional writer, I who would like to share what I know of the writing craft. It is also an online portfolio.

I am currently employed as a social media analyst, business process consultant, and copy/report writer for Visible Technologies, a cutting-edge Seattle-based software company and industry thought leader in social media engagement and online reputation management.  Specifically, I study social media, provide in-depth analysis of social media engagement, and write detailed business reports for Fortune 500 companies.  As a Senior Web Content Specialist, I work with some of the best SEOs in the business. I provide content consultation and write content for website development and management of reputation in search engine results, mostly for fortune 500 companies and their top executives.

Beyond the business of the day, I am a fiction novelist in the making. I have been writing fiction–primarily fantasy–since I could hold a pencil. I remember the moment I wanted to write books. I was twelve. I have since written several novel-length books, but I never tried to publish any of them. Two years ago, I decided to create something worth publishing.  If I stick to my plan, I should have a completed first manuscript and outline of a projected three-book series by the end of April 2009.

I have a Bachelor’s degree in English and a Master in Teaching from the University of Washington. I have experience in formal education and consider myself a versatile communications specialist. It is my comfort zone to engage with people face to face, on the phone, before a live audience, and in a variety of social media platforms as well as the written word.

As part of the path to being published and becoming an expert in the field of writing, I voraciously study communication as a craft. This stems in part from my analytical, business-minded brain, as well as my fascination with the human psyche and the art of storytelling. I attend writing conferences, network with other writers, follow writing blogs, and am a member of multiple writing critique groups.  I generally immerse myself in what I love.

I will use this blog to share what I know and have learned about fiction writing, writing markets, business writing, and writing as it relates to social media and online reputation management.

Once again, welcome to http://www.aboutawriter.com! I hope you enjoy your stay.

This writing blog was officially launched in January 2009.
